Artist's Description

A fern is a type of plant that is characterised by its feathery and delicate foliage. It belongs to a group of vascular plants known as Pteridophytes, which reproduce through spores rather than seeds. Ferns have a unique life cycle that includes alternating generations between the gametophyte (sexual) and sporophyte (asexual) phases.

The structure of a fern typically consists of a root system, underground rhizomes, and fronds. The fronds are the leaf-like structures of the fern, and they exhibit a distinctive shape with multiple small leaflets attached to a central stalk. These leaflets often have a symmetrical and elongated shape, resembling feathers or fans, which gives ferns their characteristic appearance.

The foliage of a fern is usually a vibrant shade of green, although some species may display variations such as silver, bronze, or even reddish hues. The fronds can vary in size, ranging from just a few centimeters to several meters long, depending on the species.

Call Me Abbie - Abbie Shores

****NEW**** My second book is out now, Go to Lulu and put in "Carved In Time - Abbie Shores" ****NEW**** Welcome to my site, where I share my artistic journey through a variety of mediums, including oil paintings, digital art, and photography, available as prints. If you're local to the M33 area, I also offer commission work, whether you're looking for something large or small. My stories range from deep, dark explorations of the mind to lighter, uplifting pieces, each written with a great deal of passion. The darker works often stem from personal experiences, including my battles with PTSD and depression. Currently, I am working on a full-length novel, though it's a work in progress that I hope to complete before I turn 90! I am...
